EV 271, Environmental Policy

In this course taught by Phil Kannan, students were introduced to what currently frames the basis of American environmental policy. This was done through careful study and analysis of many legal cases on various environmental issues, going as far back as the early 1900s and a recent as a few years in the past. Students left the class with a thorough understanding of the legal toolkit available for protecting the environment, as well as better knowledge on how environmental policy is created and employed.

In this class, we had two major papers. The second paper focused on the National Wildlife Refuge System (NWRS), dealing mostly with what improvements could be made on the system at current, given various other case proceedings and the general policy-making toolkit.
